Jhumkas! Jhumkas! and More Jhumkas!

What are Jhumkas?

Jhumkas are traditional East Indian bell shaped earrings, made with Gold, Silver , Gold Plated , Any alloy metal and Lac/Clay.

Adding Jhumkas to hoops, gives it an exoctic and a modern look.

They are an East Indian favorite, famous in Jaipur Rajsthan and popular all over India.

No East Indian trousseau is complete without a Jhumka! A jewelry most Indian Women and girls own. These are also called Jhumki's in South India!

These are ancient, elegant and preserved and they are regal too!  These come in Gem studded(Jadau), Kundan(Gold foil), Polki(diamond studded), and my favorite and widely popular silver Jhumkas.

Jhumkas were patronized by the Mughal Emperors's as well as the Indian Maharaja's.

Another popular category of Jhumkas are the Meenakari Jhumkas in silver and gold.

Meena is a special category of Indian Jewelry. Meena means enameling work. Meenkari was introduced by the Mughals to Indian, which originated in Persia.

The picture above shows Jaipur Meenakri. Gulabi Meenakari is the Banaras/Varanasi style of meena that is rare and extravagant with color reflecting the pink rose and its dark green leaves.
